HANDS On . . . .

GATHERING PURPOSE
To PROCLAIM the grace and faithfulness of God revealed to us in Jesus Christ.
To RESPOND to God’s grace and faithfulness in ways that are intentional, practical and meaningful.
To CELEBRATE that, by the grace of God, we are now children of God.

GATHERING OBJECTIVES
A. To provide participants with opportunities:
• To Enter into a living relationship and dialogue with a theme Bible verse (text) which will be presented during the Gathering;
• To Receive the Means of Grace — Word and Sacrament — in varied experiences of worship that are integral to the life of the Gathering;
• To Understand how God’s grace and faithfulness relate to their everyday lives, and to know that they belong to God no matter what else is happening in their lives;
• To Develop and strengthen friendship, to experience in another way their identity within the community of Christ;
• To Be Inspired to share what they have learned and experienced at the Gathering   with their friends, families and home congregations

B
. To serve as a vehicle for the National Youth Ministry:
• To Develop new resources (media, studies, music, etc.);
• To Develop networks for communication and support in youth ministry;
• To Develop leadership — youth, adults, resource people, planners;
• To Learn about youth and their issues;
• To Promote national programs and resources;
• To Relate to congregations, Synods, and Dioceses;
• To Assist campus ministry, outdoor ministry, schools, colleges and seminaries of the church in promoting their mission (eg. displays, dramas groups, singing groups, etc.)
